Generate the draw and bracket

Generate match brackets, round-robin schedules, or challenge ladders from your approved seeds on TopSeed, and publish them to players.

hostAll sportsLast updated October 8, 2026

Open your event manage dashboard, select the Draws tab, and click Generate on any division ready for bracket creation. TopSeed takes your approved seed order, builds the format-specific tournament tree or group schedule, and publishes the draw to your public event page for players to view.

1. Complete pre-generation requirements

Before generating a bracket or schedule, verify the following:

  • Registration is closed. The registration deadline has passed, or you have closed sign-ups for the draw.
  • Format-specific entrant thresholds. You have enough registered participants for your draw format: Single Elimination and Ladders require at least 2 entrants, Round Robin requires at least 3 entrants, Double Elimination requires an exact field of 8 or 16 entrants, and World Cup requires at least 6 entrants (and supports up to 8 groups).
  • Seeding approved. Review the ranked seed order in Ask AI and approve the seeding snapshot. See How seeding works, and how to review, approve or override it.

2. Generate the draw from Manage Draws

  1. Go to your event manage page and click Draws (/events/[slug]/manage/draws).
  2. Find the draw card. When ready for bracket creation, the card displays a Generate button with a sparkle icon.
  3. Click Generate to open the generation confirmation dialog.
  4. Confirm your selection. TopSeed initiates the generation workflow in Ask AI, building the match structure and persisting the bracket.
  5. If generation encounters an issue, the button label changes to Retry, allowing you to re-attempt creation.

3. Understand format-specific structures

TopSeed's generation pipeline builds the competition structure based on your selected format:

  • Single Elimination. Distributes top seeds to opposite brackets according to standard tournament guidelines, distributes byes automatically to complete standard bracket powers of two, and links matchups through to the final.
  • Round Robin. Assigns participants to balanced pools using your configured placement method (Skill Band, Snake Seeding, or Paired Random Draw) and generates match schedules for all group rounds.
  • Double Elimination. Generates dual-bracket structures containing winners and losers brackets for 8- or 16-player fields.
  • World Cup. Assigns participants to round-robin groups using your configured placement method, generates complete group schedules, and establishes the knockout playoff bracket with slots fed by advancing group qualifiers.
  • Ladders (Bump). Initializes the challenge ladder positions in seed order, opening the challenge board for ongoing play.

4. View and publish the live draw

Once generation completes:

  • The draw lifecycle status changes to Draw Posted.
  • The button on the draw row updates to View Draw.
  • Click View Draw to open the interactive tournament viewer. Players can explore the bracket, view match matchups, check opponent information, and follow live score progressions directly on your event page.
