If your schedule changes or you are unable to play, you can withdraw from a tournament draw directly on TopSeed. The platform evaluates refund eligibility automatically based on the tournament's registration deadline.

How to withdraw

Withdrawals must be initiated directly from the tournament event page (/events/[slug]):

  1. Go to the tournament event page on TopSeed. If you received a confirmation email, click View Event Details to open the page, or locate the tournament under Where are my registrations.
  2. Click Withdraw on your registered draw card.
  3. On the Select Draws screen, select the division or divisions you wish to withdraw from, then click Next.
  4. On the Confirm Withdrawal screen, review your selection summary. The screen shows your entry details, confirms refund eligibility, and warns if the withdrawal impacts a doubles teammate.
  5. Click Withdraw to submit your request.

What happens to your payment

TopSeed processes your withdrawal according to the deadline-based refund rule:

  • Before the registration deadline: If your payment has not been captured yet, TopSeed voids the card authorization hold immediately. Nothing is charged to your card. If your payment was already captured, TopSeed issues a full refund (including the platform fee) to your original card. Refunds typically appear on your statement within 5 to 10 business days.
  • After the registration deadline: Once the registration deadline passes, tournament entry fees are committed to the event so the organizer can finalize brackets and match times. Withdrawals submitted after the deadline do not receive a refund.
  • Matches in progress: If match play for the draw has already started, withdrawing is recorded as a tournament retirement or walkover, and no refund is available.

For complete policy details, see the Refund policy in plain language.

Doubles partner cascade

In doubles draws, registrations exist as a team:

  • When you withdraw from a doubles division, TopSeed withdraws both you and your partner together.
  • Your partner receives an automatic email notification letting them know the team has been withdrawn.
  • If the withdrawal happens before the registration deadline, both teammates are refunded in full. After the deadline, neither partner receives a refund.

Frequently asked questions

Will I receive a refund if I withdraw from a draw?
If you withdraw before the event's registration deadline, your card authorization hold is released or your captured payment is refunded in full. After the deadline, entries are non-refundable.
What happens to my doubles partner if I withdraw?
In doubles events, withdrawing one partner automatically withdraws the entire team. Your partner is notified immediately so they can find another teammate if registration is still open.
Where do I find the withdraw button?
Open the tournament event page where you registered (navigate there from the View Event Details link in your confirmation email or from Where are my registrations) and click Withdraw on your registered draw card.
