TopSeed provides two score reporting modes configured per draw: Player Submit + Confirm (PLAYER_SUBMIT), where match participants record scores and opponents verify them, and Host Entry Only (HOST_ENTRY), where only tournament organizers enter results. In both modes, hosts maintain authority to submit, confirm, or override scores (score corrections that change the match winner are blocked once the bracket has already advanced, while score-only corrections without a winner change remain permitted).

Player Submit + Confirm

In Player Submit + Confirm mode, entrants manage match scoring from their mobile devices or match cards:

  • Participant submission. Either player in a singles match (or either team member in doubles) can open the match and submit set scores upon completion.
  • Opponent verification. The opposing side receives a notification prompting them to review the submission. The opponent can tap Confirm to finalize the match or Dispute to submit a correction note.
  • Bracket advancement. Once confirmed, the match finalizes immediately, advancing the winning player to the next round in single or double elimination, or updating standings in round robin and World Cup group stages.
  • Recommended use. Best for adult tournaments, club ladders, and multi-court events where players manage their own matches on court.

Host Entry Only

In Host Entry Only mode, match score recording is restricted to tournament organizers:

  • Restricted player actions. Players can view their match times, opponents, and completed scores on the bracket, but they cannot submit results from their match cards.
  • Desk reporting. Participants report physical scorecards or verbal results to the tournament desk.
  • Instant finalization. Every score entered by the host is automatically confirmed (isAutoConfirmed), updating the bracket and advancing winners without requiring opponent sign-off.
  • Recommended use. Ideal for junior events, championship finals, tournaments with dedicated court monitors, or events where organizers require strict administrative control over results.

Host authority and auto-confirm rules

TopSeed's scoring permission model enforces consistent administrative rules:

  • Universal host entry. Regardless of the draw's configured mode, hosts can always submit scores for any match.
  • Host auto-confirmation. Any submission authored by a host auto-confirms instantly, bypassing opponent verification windows.
  • Host overrides. If players submit conflicting scores or enter an incorrect scoreline in Player Submit mode, the host can resolve the issue immediately. However, once the bracket has already advanced (the winner is populated into a downstream matchup or a challenge result is applied), changing the winner is blocked (WINNER_CHANGE_BLOCKED) to protect tournament integrity (score-only corrections without a winner change remain permitted). See Confirm, dispute and override scores as a host.

Setting your scoring mode

You select the scoring mode when configuring a draw:

  1. Open the draw setup dialog (Add Draw or Edit Draw).
  2. Under Score Reporting, select Player Submit + Confirm or Host Entry Only.
  3. Save the draw. The selected policy governs all matches generated for that division.

Frequently asked questions

Can a host still submit scores if a draw is set to Player Submit?
Yes. Hosts retain authority to enter or override match scores in any mode. When an organizer enters a score, it is auto-confirmed immediately (though overriding a winner is blocked once the bracket has advanced; score-only corrections remain allowed).
What happens if an opponent ignores a submitted score?
If an opponent does not confirm or dispute the score, the host can confirm the pending score directly from the score overlay or Ask AI to advance the bracket.
Where do I change the score entry mode?
In the draw configuration dialog, select your preferred mode under the Score Reporting menu (Player Submit + Confirm or Host Entry Only).
