Understand how fees work on TopSeed for players and event hosts, including entry fees, platform fees, and card processing costs.

TopSeed maintains a transparent fee structure designed for tournaments of all sizes. Players see all charges itemized before paying, and event hosts receive their tournament entry fees minus standard card processing costs. TopSeed acts as the merchant of record for all platform transactions.

If you are playing

When you register for a paid division on TopSeed, your total payment includes:

  • Draw entry fee: The entry fee established by the tournament organizer for each division you join. Free draws require no payment.
  • Platform fee: A flat platform fee per draw that supports bracket creation, live score tracking, rating calculations, and payment infrastructure. This fee is itemized on the checkout screen before you pay.
  • Sales tax: Sales tax is calculated and collected only in jurisdictions where TopSeed is legally registered to collect it. Where tax is not required, no tax is added.

When you complete checkout, TopSeed places a temporary authorization hold on your payment card. Funds are captured closer to the registration deadline. If you withdraw before the event's registration deadline, or if the tournament is cancelled by the host, you receive a full refund, including the platform fee.

If you are hosting

As a tournament director or event host, you control your own entry fees:

  • Your tournament proceeds: Your payout share consists of the draw entry fees you set for your divisions, less standard card processing costs charged by payment networks.
  • Platform fee: The platform fee paid by players belongs to TopSeed and is retained by the platform to cover infrastructure and support.
  • Card processing on refunds: When a player withdraws before the registration deadline, the player receives a full refund. Payment processing fees on refunded transactions are not returned by card networks and come out of the host's share.
  • Receiving payouts: TopSeed pays your share by the payout method you set up. The payout terms in the Organizer agreement set out the available methods and the timing: TopSeed initiates your payout within 14 days after your event ends, subject to the holds described there.
