What is this charge from TopSeed?

Understand why you see a charge or temporary authorization hold from TopSeed, when payment completes, and what to do if it looks wrong.

If you notice a transaction or pending hold from TopSeed on your payment card, it corresponds to a tournament entry you submitted on our platform. TopSeed uses a hold-at-registration model that schedules final card capture closer to tournament deadlines.

How payment authorization and capture work

When you register for a paid tournament draw, TopSeed does not charge your card immediately:

  • At registration (Authorization Hold): TopSeed places a temporary authorization hold on your payment card. This confirms that your payment method is active and reserves the funds. Money has not left your account; your bank simply marks the funds as pending.
  • Scheduled capture (Final Charge): TopSeed schedules the final payment capture to complete automatically around the event's registration deadline. If a tournament is scheduled far in advance, TopSeed captures the charge earlier to prevent card network holds from expiring.

This timing benefits players: if you withdraw before the registration deadline, the authorization hold is voided cleanly, and you never have to wait for a standard bank refund.

Why a pending charge appears and disappears

You may see a pending amount appear on your bank statement and later vanish for two common reasons:

  • You withdrew before capture: If you withdraw before the scheduled capture date, TopSeed immediately cancels the card hold. The pending entry drops off your account without a charge posting.
  • Hold expiration and renewal: Standard card network authorizations expire after roughly a week. To ensure your registration remains secure without holds lapsing unexpectedly, TopSeed captures the charge before the hold window closes.

What to do if an amount looks wrong

If you see a transaction that looks unfamiliar or does not match what you expected:

  1. Check your checkout summary and Stripe receipt: Your registration confirmation email lists your registered divisions and host entry fees. For a complete itemized breakdown of platform fees and applicable sales tax, review your original checkout summary or the official Stripe receipt sent to your email after payment capture.
  2. Review your active registrations: Sign in to TopSeed and open Where are my registrations to verify all tournaments and divisions you entered.
  3. Contact support: If an amount still appears incorrect, send an email to support@topseed.ai. Please include the event link and the email address associated with your TopSeed account so our team can review the transaction records right away.
