Set up payouts with Stripe
Connect a Stripe payout account so TopSeed can send you your share after each event.
Players pay TopSeed when they register, so you never need Stripe to charge anyone. Payout setup only tells us where to send your share once your event is over. It takes about five minutes and you can do it any time, but finishing before your first paid event ends means your first payout is not delayed.
Before you start
Have these ready. Stripe collects them directly and TopSeed never sees them.
- A mobile phone. Stripe texts you a verification code.
- Your legal name, or your business name and details if you are paying out to a company.
- A website or social page for your events, or a short description of what you run if you have neither.
- The routing and account numbers of the bank account that should receive payouts.
- Stripe may later ask for your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number, or an EIN for a company, before it can pay out.
Start payout setup
- Open your profile and go to Preferences.
- In the Payments section, click Setup in Stripe. You are sent to Stripe.
- Complete Stripe's form. Stripe asks whether you are paying out as an individual or a business, and may ask for a photo ID or a document that proves your address.
- When Stripe finishes, you are returned to TopSeed and the status badge updates.
If you leave Stripe's form halfway, come back to Preferences and click Continue in Stripe. Stripe picks up where you left off.
What the status badge means
| Badge | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Not set up | You have not started. | Click Setup in Stripe. |
| Setup pending | Stripe is reviewing what you entered, or still needs something from you. | If you see Continue in Stripe, click it to finish. Otherwise wait; verification usually takes under a minute. |
| Action required | Stripe needs more information before it can pay you. | Click Fix in Stripe to see what is missing. You can still use Manage in Stripe to change your bank account. |
| Payouts enabled | You are ready to be paid. | Nothing. See How and when you get paid. To change your details later, click Manage in Stripe. |
Right after you return from Stripe, the badge can read Setup pending while Stripe finishes its checks. TopSeed keeps checking for about a minute and the badge updates on its own. If it still says pending after that, reload the page.
Update your bank account
Manage in Stripe appears in the Payments section as soon as you have a Stripe payout account. It opens your payout dashboard once you have completed Stripe's setup form, including later, when Stripe asks for updated details. If you click it before finishing setup, TopSeed asks you to finish first.
- Open your profile and go to Preferences.
- In the Payments section, click Manage in Stripe. Stripe opens your payout dashboard and may text you a code to confirm it is you.
- Change your bank account, address or tax details there. Stripe saves them directly.
A new bank account applies to payouts Stripe sends after the change. TopSeed never sees the account numbers.
What TopSeed stores
TopSeed keeps only your Stripe account ID and the status above. Identity documents, tax ID and bank details stay with Stripe.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need a Stripe account already?
- No. TopSeed creates one for you when you click Setup in Stripe. If you already set one up through TopSeed, we reuse it.
- Can I set this up after my event?
- Yes. Your payout waits until setup is complete, so finishing it before the event ends avoids a delay.
- Can payouts go to a business?
- Yes. Stripe asks whether you are paying out as an individual or a business at the start of setup, and collects business details instead of personal ones.
- How do I change the bank account my payouts go to?
- Open Preferences and click Manage in Stripe in the Payments section. Stripe opens your payout dashboard, where you can change your bank account, address and tax details.
- What if I never finish setup?
- TopSeed holds your share until payouts are enabled. Email support@topseed.ai if you are stuck.
